“Flowing Rhymes” by Shih-Yuan Wang and Yu-Ting Sheng Wins the 2024 iF Design Award (Germany)
Flowing Rhymes, a collaborative project by Shih-Yuan Wang and Yu-Ting Sheng, has been honored with the 2024 iF Design Award in Germany!
This innovative project is Taiwan’s first—and the world’s third—cement 3D-printed landscape bench. Developed as part of a landscape enhancement initiative led by the Kaohsiung Water Resources Bureau following the opening of the Meinong Sports Center, the project was jointly completed by Chien-Ming Chao Architects and the ROSO Robotic Construction Lab.
The design employs a self-developed robotic arm cement 3D printing technique, showcasing the technology’s ability to produce complex, multi-directional curved forms. Inspired by the flowing water of Meinong, the bench embodies the poetic imagery of a natural stream, transforming public space into a site-specific piece of landscape art.
