Shu-Chang Kung is currently a professor at the Institute of Architecture of National Yangming Jiaotong University, (NYCU), the co-facilitator of the Public Service Group of Taiwan Design Research Institute (TDRI), and a municipal consultant of the Taipei City Government. He won the 8th “Outstanding Architect” of Taiwan in 2007 and the winner of the 24th “Taipei Culture Award” in 2020, & the winner of 2024 Golden Pin Design Award–Best Design Achievement Award.

Shu-Chang Kung received M.Arch (1992) and M.Des. (1993) from GSD, Harvard University, U.S.A. In 1997-2008. Kung established AURA Architects & Associates in Taipei. The works of AURA always challenge the double entity and dialogue between architecture and nature in different scales, materials or site situations. His works has received many international awards.

Kung has served as Taiwan’s representative at the “Hong Kong & Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture”, and at “the Next-Gene 20 of the 11th International Architecture Biennale in Venice,” both in 2008. He was also the chief curator of the “2011-2012 Hong Kong and Shenzhen Bi-City Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture- Taipei Pavilion,” “2013 Taipei Design & City Exhibition- Adaptive City Design in Motion” for 2016 World Design Capital, “2018 Hsinchu 300th Anniversary Expo- See You Tomorrow,” “2018 Taichung World Flora Expo- Harvest Blessings Pavilion,” “2019 Open Library of General Village,” “2019 TAIPOWER D/S One”, “2020 Bricking The Wall, Taiwan Contemporary Culture Lab (C-LAB)”, 2020 & 2023 “Taiwan Design Expo”, 2021 & 2022 “Taiwan Creative Expo”, 2023 “World Hakka Expo-Taiwan Pavilion”, & 2024 “The Generation of Emancipatory Architecture in Taiwan” Exhibition, and etc.

In addition to his many contributions to the fields of architectural education & criticism. Since 2009, Kung has actively participated as a jury member for competitions and awards in architecture, city, and culture, such as Red Dot Communication Design Award, iF Design Award, Good Design Award (Japan), SIDA Award (Singapore), Gold Pin Award (Taiwan), TID Award (Taiwan), Idea-Tops Award (China), Modern Decoration International Media Award (China), and ADA Awards for Emerging Architects (Taiwan) etc.
